The WFC is an initiative of the municipality of Ede, province of Gelderland, Wageningen University & Research, Stichting World Food Centers and WFC Development BV (a collaboration between BPD (Bouwfonds Property Development) Green Real Estate BV and Van Wijnen Groep NV).

Companies and organizations involved WFC Experience

Companies have been intensively involved in the development of the WFC Experience from the very beginning. These are: Albert Heijn, DSM, FrieslandCampina, KeyGene, Nestlé, Rabobank and Scelta Mushrooms.

In addition, the health sector, social organizations and educational institutions are also involved in the implementation of the WFC.

Foodvalley is the Netherlands' central knowledge-intensive agrifood ecosystem and makes a significant contribution to solving global issues in the area of food. Ede is in the heart of Foodvalley and therefore also an excellent place for the WFC. Foodvalley NL and Region Foodvalley are important partners of the WFC.

Growing involvement of NGOs at WFC

The World Food Center sets itself the goal of telling the complex story of nutrition in an objective way. In order to get a complete picture of the challenges and opportunities for feeding the world population, WFC is actively looking for an interview with NGOs.

In addition to good contacts with the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which was already involved in the development of the master plan of the Experience, more and more NGOs are also asked for input and whether they are interested in their information in the WFC Experience to validate and present.

Discussions have already been held or planned with major national and international organizations such as the Consumers Association, Animal Protection, World Wildlife Fund, National Action Plan for Fruit and Vegetable, Alliance for Child Marketing, Heart Foundation, Nutrition Lives, Arts & Nutrition, Foodhub, Nature & Environment, Solidaridad and Oxfam.

Other NGOs who would like to exchange ideas with us about the implementation of the WFC are most welcome.

Now that the final version of the master plan is ready, the WFC Experience is taking shape. At the same time, it is becoming increasingly clear that the WFC offers an attractive environment for all agrifood-related companies that believe in innovation, cooperation, knowledge exchange and dialogue with consumers.
