New location for Startups ROOTS opens its doors at World Food Center

Special products and ideas are given the opportunity to grow

Ede, April 14, 2020 - The Foodvalley region has a unique location for starting entrepreneurs. They can settle in two former barracks on the World Food Center site at very favorable conditions. The first companies have already been withdrawn. In total, more than 3,400 square meters of office and experimental space are available.

Nice addition to the region
Roots offers space for startups and scale-ups that are active in agri and food, but also beyond. Its location next to Ede-Wageningen railway station, on the edge of the Veluwe and amid all activities on the World Food Center site, makes it an ideal location for starting entrepreneurs. Board member of the Roots Innovation Hub Foundation and CEO of FoodvalleyNL Roger van Hoesel agrees. “Cheap and flexible housing for young companies in an inspiring environment is important. Roots is a great addition to all the beauty that the ecosystem has to offer here in this region. ”

Special innovations
The first companies with special concepts have now settled in buildings 85 and 86 at the World Food Center. Ernst Breel, co-founder of Rival Foods is delighted with their new location: “Rival Foods is developing a new production process to produce the world's first 100% vegetable culinary fillet pieces. Rival Foods has established itself in Roots to be able to take the first steps in development and expand. Roots provides the right combination of infrastructure, low costs and entrepreneurship to support Rival Foods in this early phase. ”

Another special company is Vegger. Paulien van de Vlasakker from Vegger explains what they do. “Vegger provides products and services for indoor gardening: indoor gardening. Vegger's high-tech indoor gardens guarantee the right growing and flowering conditions for a green indoor climate and optimal meal experience in offices and care centers. Roots is the perfect place for us to further expand our company. We rent the necessary space that we make good use of. In addition, the location / location is very convenient, also for expanding our network within Foodvalley and the World Food Center! ”

The following companies are currently based in Roots: Rival Foods, Vegger, Black Coffee, Corvus Drones, Track32. Interested entrepreneurs can find more information at www.worldfoodcenter.net/roots.

Coronavirus measures (COVID-19)
On 15 March last, the Dutch government took far-reaching measures as a result of the distribution of COVID-19. The Roots Innovation Hub Foundation closely follows these measures. This means that the provision of information to interested entrepreneurs takes place online and by telephone as much as possible. Viewings are possible, but of course measures are taken to conduct the viewings as safely as possible.
